Nexans Brazil launches new low-carbon cable offer focused on reducing the environmental impact of its solar power generation projects

At Nexans we know that making more sustainable choices has become an urgent decision, especially in the energy sector. Recognized as the world's leading cable manufacturer, we have launched a new Low Carbon offer to give our customers the opportunity to actively participate in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as benefiting from reduced environmental impact. Our commitment is to reach Net Zero CO2 emissions by 2050. 

The focus of Nexans Brazil's low carbon offer is:

• Nexans Quality Assurance.
• Reduction of CO2 emissions;
• Circular Economy;
• Transparency: each product has its own environmental certificate.

Our offer is based on four modules and one certificate:

• 100% of our electricity is renewable;
• Reuse of reels from our partners' projects, with the aim of achieving 50% by 2024;
• Optimization of downstream transport, achieving a 96% occupancy rate;

Nexans Brazil benefits from the experience of the Nexans group around the world to guarantee quality through rigorous testing, ensuring that our products meet performance, safety and reliability standards, as well as contributing to sustainability. Our methods and our factory in Rio de Janeiro are ISO certified: Quality Management (ISO 9001); Environmental Management (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health and Safety Management (ISO 45001).

We have achieved these results thanks to a series of innovations that are constantly being implemented, such as: 100% of our electricity comes from renewable sources; Rewinding, a program focused on recycling and reusing cable reels, to promote the circular economy and reduce material consumption; optimization of Down-stream Transport, an initiative to reduce Scope 3 emissions, reaching 96% load consolidation; We invest to promote sustainability in our operation, through initiatives such as modernizing our production equipment and, above all, quality control systems. We choose and approve suppliers of raw materials for the circular economy, who are regularly audited both for the quality of the products we need and for compliance.

 

Since 2019, we have made an ambitious commitment to significantly reduce our carbon footprint, covering all aspects of operations. We are committed to transparency and environmental compliance as evidenced by the EPD - PEP Ecopassport - an international reference program for declaring the environmental impacts of electrical products.
