Nexans Brasil is selected as a partner of the Sol do Sertão solar plant

Through the partnership with the Seta Araxá consortium, Nexans consolidates its position as a key player in Brazil's energy transition

With access to energy and worldwide electrification as the vision and support base for its business, Nexans Brasil was announced as the main partner of the Seta Araxá consortium to supply approximately 4,600 km of the Energyflex cable, which will compose the construction of the power plant complex Sol do Sertão solar panels.

It is one of the largest solar plant projects currently underway in the country, with more than 1000 solar panels generating a power of 490 MWp. The complex is being installed in the city of Oliveira dos Brejinhos / BA, 600 km from the capital Salvador / BA and will contain 8 solar plants. The work is expected to exceed 1300 employees in its peak phase, generating economic and social development in the region.

The EnergyFlex cable was developed by Nexans Brasil to meet especially the needs of solar plants and where extremely high ambient temperatures are expected. To meet requirements for UVB resistance and resistance to burning, these cables are provided with a cover coating specially formulated to meet the requirements of UL 2556, IEC 60332-1 and ABNT NBR 16612. Due to the special conductor coating, these cables are particularly recommended to guarantee a better performance of the connections throughout their useful life, mainly in the interconnections of panels and connection modules in the photovoltaic systems. As an additional and normative requirement for indoor application, these cables have low smoke and toxic gas characteristics, being halogen-free, integrating the AFITOX line.
