There are more than 40 km of medium voltage cables specially manufactured for long runs

Having access to energy as its vision and support base for its business, Nexans Brasil was announced as a partner of the energy distributor Amazonas Energia S/A, to supply approximately 40 km of medium voltage cables.

This is the regional rural electrification project where the concessionaire will use the cables in an underwater installation through river beds. The project's main objective is to modernize and expand the region's energy distribution network, replacing overhead lines with underwater lines in some stretches and others will still have new facilities. In total, the program will cover around 20 cities, 12,000 homes and more than 60,000 people from the riverside regions of Upper / Middle / Lower Solimões, Madeira and Middle / Lower Amazonas.

The differential offered by Nexans in this opportunity was the packaging of these cables: in special metallic coils with unique stretches of up to 5 km without seams, following the strictest standards and requirements required in underwater installations and large tidal variations in river crossings , lakes and wetlands.

"The commercial and technical team of Nexans Brasil understood that our performance in this project should go far beyond the manufacture of the cable to, in fact, meet the customer's need: unique and seamless bids that favor installation in special locations, thus generating , value for this partnership and looking at the entire customer value chain. The essence of this project is closely linked to Nexans' belief in bringing energy to life”, comments Mário Alonso, Product Engineering Manager at Nexans Brasil.

“Nexans was chosen for this installation because of the experience they have in differentiated projects, with specific requirements in addition to their traditional reputation in the quality of manufacturing these products”, concludes João Esperança, from Amazonas Energia.

Installation should be completed by the middle of the second half of the year and commissioning by the end of the year, already benefiting this community.
